Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,

I am writing to submit an academic appeal to drop a course after the academic deadline. The course is MATH 121 (Summer 2019). Although I have already taken and passed this course in my first year of studies, I decided to retake to improve my mark. My current grade in the class is incomplete since I have yet to take the midterm exam.

The reason behind my desire to drop the course is due to the additional employment I have taken upon myself to finance my education. I currently work as a summer lab student (full-time) in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Science and a property manager (part-time). After careful consideration of my finances and the recent changes in OSAP, I was forced to take extra work in order to fund my university education.

I understand that this may not classify as an extenuating circumstance; however, since I have already taken and passed this course, I hope this is considered when reaching a final decision about my academic appeal.
