Dear Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science,
My name is Sian Powell (10142405) and I am a student studying in the Faculty of Arts at Queens University. I am writing to you and the committee in regard to having the opportunity to be given an Aegrotat Standing in two of my courses, GPHY 102 and HLTH 101.
As of late November, I have been diagnosed with a concussion that has set me back from writing my exams at their regularly scheduled times, and will be writing in the new year. With this health risk I have spent many hours in contact with Professors and Academic Advisors to insure that I am able to complete mandatory exams. I am currently enrolled in five Arts classes, ECON 110, DEVS 100, GHPY 102, MATH 121 and HLTH 101. Being granted an Aegrotat standing in the two courses which I have completed 60 of course material will give me the opportunity to properly prepare for the remaining exams.
My doctor, her strict instructions are in the attached document section, has told me to take the entire month of December to recover. As I believe I will be writing my make up exams in January I don't believe I will have sufficient time to study and be well prepared for 5 exams. After two weeks of recovery I am seeing improvements in my health but I am still not 100. As an engaged student I am trying to study here and there, when ever possible, but there are constant headaches that cause set backs.
I would greatly appreciate having the opportunity to be granted an Aegrotat standing in the two courses identified above, to insure a faster and safer recovery and prepare me for success in the New Year, both on exams and regularly scheduled classes.
I thank you for your time and consideration on this matter and wish you a happy holiday.
Sincerely,
Sian Powell
