Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: i would like to submit a letter of appeal for my SPAN 111 class as i could not make up for any tests or assignments i had missed while i was away on a bereavement for my close fried who took his own life. This along with at home issues surrounding my parents separation and further punishment have and continue to psychologically plague me and my academics are taking a hit drastically. I believe i am good student and i do my best to be model for my peers but over the past several years i have been dealt unlucky hands that I've been struggling to bounce back from. I originally didn't want to drop the class, but at the request by my professor, she couldn't urge me enough to drop this class and seek help and talk about whats going on. she told me its not about school if your health is taking the hit and i feel like it has been. Ive talked with Dr. Thompson in the LLCU program about what I'm going through and how i plan to attack and he is the reason i am going not to seek help from student wellness. Ive spoken with a counsellor there and she also agreed that it would best for me to drop this class because i truly need to get better. Its not that this class was the reason i am dropping it, my marks before my friends passing were sub-par, but i haven't been able to be the student I've wanted to be and I'm afraid that this will only make things worse.
