Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to late drop two courses this semester due to the unforeseen deterioration of a mental health condition. After a great first month of class, a depressive episode affected my ability to attend lectures, complete assignments in time, and keep up with the course materials. This was due to having low mood, low energy, and low motivation most days of the week.

After consultation with my physician, my medication was changed, and the slow recovery and side effects of the medication continued to negatively impact me for the rest of the semester. I continue to attend therapy and regularly consult my general physician, as well as a psychiatrist. I have registered with QSAS as to minimize the impact on my academics moving forward. I am also planning on taking a reduced course load next semester.
