Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Since the end of the winter semester in 2019, I have been dealing with the repercussions of with a personal medical condition that has affected my life mentally and physically. This timing of the medical condition is out of my control and has since affected my eating, studying and social habits as well as other healthy routines that I was usually able to balance prior to this medical condition.
At the beginning of April 2018 I was booked for a surgery for April 12, and I knew that I had to apply for some kind of academic assistance as I knew my grades would suffer due to my recent mental instability. I applied for aerograt status, accompanied with documents from a counsellor that I have been seeing in Student wellness as a way to salvage the marks I had worked so hard for thus far into the school year.

I was granted aerograt status for all of my winter term courses accept PYSC 100, which left me with no choice but to take the exam at the risk that I would fail the credit all together. I finished the majority of my classes with high As, but in PYSC100 I finished with a C due to my final exam mark. From an exam I had to take less than 24 hours before my surgery.

I was told that I could apply for credit standing in September.

I have been attending counselling since before and after my surgery and continue to recover for my current classes, which have resembled my marks prior to my medical condition.

I have written this email in hopes that you will be able to approve my credit standing status so my GPA is not lowered, which would hinder my opportunities further on in my studies at Queens.
