Petition Letter
Petition Letter: During the period of October-December 2019, I was forced to fly to South Sudan (my native country) for family reasons as my Father and the majority of my family still reside in the capital city Juba. Throughout this time, I had many important deadlines in which I had made note of, but there were days then went by in which I was unable to acquire access to any sort of internet network. Usually many people hotspot their phone to laptop, but this did not work and therefore I was unable to access the quizzes and assignments. According to the faculty of arts website, I could not request an academic consideration for a non-extenuating circumstance (technical problem) and it instructed me to contact the professor's directly to make the request of extensions. I was forced to leave the country quickly at the end of October for a family reason and we did not anticipate the internet situation to be as weak as it is. I had every intention to complete the quizzes, assignments, and tried all means possible yet given the political situation it was physically impossible to access any networks. Therefore, I strongly believe that me handing in late assignments/ being forced to use my phone to do research hindered my ability to do well in these classes which will ultimately affect my ability to seek entrance into postgraduate studies as they greatly impact my GPA.
Furthermore, during this time. I became extremely ill due to the sudden change in environment. Throughout the duration of my stay, I was bed-ridden and due to the poor health sector, when I did seek health-care professional, I was met with no answers and simply told to rest. I similarly strongly believe that this, combined with the lack of internet affected my ability to perform well in the two indicated courses.
