Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
My name is Dylan Goetz and I am in 4th year honours biology. I am appealing to add BIOL 331 (Winter, 2020) and drop ASTR 101 (Online, Winter, 2020).
Unfortunately, I believe there may have been an issue with the Queens SOLUS as before January 17th when I checked my academic requirements for graduation on SOLUS it said that I had all of my 2B seminar option courses satisfied and that I was on track for graduation, even having one more 300 level or above classes than I supposedly needed. Therefore, I decided to drop my BIOL 430 class in exchange for ASTR 101 online, and after doing so my academic requirements for graduation on SOLUS still said all my academic requirements were filled and that I was on track to graduate. It was not until January 20th when I was emailed by the Arts and Sciences Degree Requirements department and notified that I was missing 3.0 units from the 2Bic Seminar option in a 300 level or above biology course. At the time I had multiple other classes I was not enrolled in in my SOLUS planner, which my academic advisor told me is an issue with SOLUS that Queens is attempting to resolve.
Due to this issue and because I was only notified very recently, I am submitting this academic appeal to ensure that I can fulfill my missing requirements for graduation and graduate on time. I am choosing to add BIOL 331 as not only does it appear to be an intriguing class, but it also fulfills my degree requirements, fits my class schedule and has available space. I have talked to Professor Young who is the professor for the class, and he was enthusiastic about me joining the class, gave me permission to apply for this academic appeal, as well as encouraged me to begin attending lectures. I kindly request that you please accept academic appeal to add BIOL 331 and in exchange drop ASTR 101, which is an online class that I was always interested in taking but does not align with my career path nor fulfill my graduation requirements.
Thank you very much for reading taking the time to read this letter of appeal,
Dylan David Goetz

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: If my appeal is granted and BIOL 331 is added and ASTR 101 is dropped, I will be achieving academic success by fulfilling all credit requirements for my Bachelor of Science Honours in Biology degree. I can ensure that if this appeal is granted, I will achieve academic success in every class I am enrolled in this term and graduate in fall.
