Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am currently a Concurrent Education/Music student in my first year. I am writing to appeal for a course that I took in the fall term because this course was never added to my Solus so I never received credit nor paid for the course. This course is MUSC 115 section 003. (Large Ensemble).
I wanted to join this class although I missed the audition deadline so I reached out through email to the instructor of MUSC 115, Dan Tremblay. I also persistently attempted to find him and speak with him however, he was not in his office every time I went. When I was finally able to speak with Mr. Tremblay in person, he told me he did not have time in his busy schedule to assess my audition. Instead, he allowed me to submit a letter of recommendation from my piano teacher, Dr. Zuk, stating that I was eligible to play the piano. On September 23, 2019, Mr. Tremblay told me in person that he had received the letter from my piano teacher and that I would be allowed to take MUSC 115 - 003 for credit. A couple weeks after being accepted into the class, I noticed that the course had not been added onto my timetable in my Queen's Solus account. I approached Mr. Tremblay asking him if he could add the course to my Solus and he assured me that he would take care of the situation by discussing it with Kim Gudlauski, the Undergraduate Program and Events Coordinator at the Dan School of Music. Despite this, the situation remained the same and I nonetheless continued to attend every rehearsal and concert. If proven necessary, I have proof and documentation of my attendance and performance in last term's concert, along with all my attempts to correct this situation through email with Mr. Tremblay.
To conclude, I have yet to pay nor receive credit for this course and I have decided to appeal this situation myself as Mr. Tremblay has not taken care of this issue thus far. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

In order to prevent this situation from reoccurring, I will be efficient in following up on the situation and making sure I am aware of what is happening. Next time, I will ensure that I follow up each time making sure all necessary steps are taken to guarantee my credit and payment of the course. This future plan of mine will support my academic success and I will be more on track with deadlines, following up, and dealing with a situation efficiently.
