Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am appealing my grade of D-for HIST 260 during the Summer 2019 term, requesting Aegrotat Standing in the course. I did not write the final examination in the course due to extenuating family circumstances. My grades for the other course work were considerably higher than my final mark which incorporated a 0 on the final exam.
Throughout the term, I was an active participant in the required discussions and role plays, and submitted the book review assignment. I unfortunately do not have the grades for the assignments and activities I did complete, as the course is no longer available on OnQ. On June 23rd of 2019, my fiancé's brother passed away. The unexpected and sudden tragedy was a major preoccupation in the months that followed. I was able to submit the research paper a day late following this family emergency, which was a day outside of Prof. More's 48hr extension. Upon his recommendation I did submit an Academic Consideration Request. Unfortunately, the extenuating circumstances following this family tragedy was a major drain on my time and by extension my ability to participate in the course.
I am requesting that my grade reflect my engagement with the course material prior to this family tragedy, where I was able to meet all deadlines and participation requirements. The activities I did complete accounted for over 60 of the evaluation components for the course. I appreciate your consideration.
Sincerely,
Daniel Webster
