Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Since suffering my second concussion in a short span during the Queen's rugby training camp over a year ago, I have been dealing with post concussion syndrome.

This has lead to constant unbearable depression and anxiety that I started medication for at my low point at the end of November 2019. Between starting and switching medications and dealing with the depression and post concussion syndrome its been hard to focus on my studies. Particularly around the end of semester 1 and start of semester 2 when the final exam was meant to take place. I had frequent panic attacks and I passed out twice inexplicably, to go along with worsened anxiety and depression. When I reached out to my instructor in the course he recommended that I file this appeal given the circumstances. These are the reasons why I am applying for aegrotat status for BIOL 205.

I have been seeing a cognitive therapist to help with these issues as well as a concussion specialist at the arc and Dr. Lee in student wellness. Since starting the medication the symptoms have gotten somewhat better and im able to do more this semester than in the fall. Its still a battle some days just to get out of bed, but Im hoping the new medication will help even more.
