Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hi, my name is Evan Hickey and I am currently on leave from my Geography & Urban Planning Program. My time at Queen¿¿s was very challenging in my final year of 2018/2019 and has subsequently made for an even more difficult time after Queen¿¿s. I am a student who started off my time at Queen¿¿s extremely passionate and driven to maximizing my 4 years. However, in my 4th and final year, I had found myself most days unable to get out of bed and to face the day and moreover be able to go to class. By my winter semester I found it even a major undertaking to make it to one class and would only ever go out to work part time to afford my rent to continue in Kingston. It got so severe that I was unable to even complete a single course in my final semester at Queen¿¿s. Since being back in Toronto, I have been actively pursuing all ways to combat my struggles. I have been evaluated by my doctor and since been put on anti-depressants. I am also on a waiting list to enter into an addiction therapy program called compass, associated with CAM-H in Toronto. I am also in close proximity to seeing a psychotherapist to evaluate how to go about my daily life routine for the next couple of months and strategies to curb addictive behaviour and replace it with stimulating activities. I have recently been in touch with Spring Foreman who has been very helpful in discussing a road map for me to getting back on the right track. Getting a degree from Queen¿¿s means so much to me and I am doing everything in my power to work towards one.
Thank you,
Evan Hickey
