Petition Letter: To Whom This May Concern,
I am writing to have courses that I have previously taken dropped. These courses include Socy122, Psych100 (2017), Clst129, and Clst102. In first year, I had to submit an appeal due to my GPA being low. I had a difficult time adjusting to university and found that I was having issues with not being on proper medication for my learning disability. Part of my appeal plan was to go back on adhd medication. I successfully went on medication and found it to be very useful in helping me stay focused and organized. Fast forward to second year, where I experienced multiple personal issues. My childhood friend had committed suicide and I spent the first semester traveling back and forth between Toronto and Kingston going back home to be with my family specifically my younger sister. In the second semester I continued to try and travel back and forth between Toronto and Kingston, but it became emotionally exhausting. My sister was really struggling with the loss and I felt a duty to be there for her. Coming to this realization made me realize I needed to take a break from my courses and that¿¿s why I dropped those current courses.
I fully take responsibility for not dropping the courses prior to the drop date. I previously explained that I had a very difficult time adjusting to university. It was hard for me to balance university life and I Definity had a lack of focus and organization. In first year, I was very confused, and I didn¿¿t understand how university and GPA worked. I know it does not make me sound that intelligent but the whole concept of university at the time was so confusing to me. I didn¿¿t understand that if my grade was low, I should have dropped it. Therefore
Due to my laptop crashing last year I no longer have my letter from my doctor regarding the first appeal. I am hoping that my previous appeal has been saved so the documentation could be used regarding my late dropped courses. Additionally for second year, I never received any counseling I just spent majority of my time with my family specifically my younger sister.
I hope that I explained my situation well. Again, I fully take responsibility for not having dropped these courses. I have really been working hard in regard to school and want to continue my hard work.
