Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I originally enrolled in ANAT100 (fall 2019) as a Visiting Student, and Andre Degagne informed me that I needed to apply as a non-degree continuing student. At this point, I understood that although I had selected ANAT100 for enrolment on SOLUS, I was denied enrolment because of my category situation. He later informed me that he switched me into this category and I was ok to proceed with my application as is. From this, I was under the impression that I still needed to complete an enrolment step after the switch in order to officially be in the course. At this point, I had chosen against taking the course due to increasing demands from my masters program and professional school applications, and so I did not take any further action with my student account or application.
I still intend on taking the online ANAT100 course, so I recently tried to enrol in ANAT100 for the spring/summer session. However, I was enrolment blocked because of outstanding tuition fees from the fall. This was how I learned about these charges, and having to pay for these tuition fees in addition to tuition fees for the spring/summer session would be financially problematic for me. I inquired about course refunds for this situation and was told by Luke Serson (from the Office of the University Registrar) that I would first have to submit an academic appeal to have the course removed from my transcript before submitting a refund appeal.
Thus, I am making a request to have the fall 2019 ANAT100 course dropped from my academic record to help me in this process. I feel that the communication was confusing/unclear regarding my enrolment situation with ANAT100 in the fall, and that it would be unfair for me to have to pay the tuition twice in order to complete the ANAT100 course this upcoming semester because of this. Taking this course is extremely important to me at this point, since it is a required prerequisite for professional physiotherapy master's programs, and I hope that whoever receives this understands and is willing to help me out.
