Petition Letter: I am appealing for an extension to my incomplete. I am just gonna tell you what has happened to me this semester.
In January both my daughter and I were sick again back and forth with respiratory infections. Her being a preemie it hit her hard I also starting at the very beginning of January in and out of the hospital will gallbladder attacks. I have numerous Dr. Notes.
At the end of January my 16 year old nephew came to live with me. My sister has been a NON- functioning alcoholic for 4 years now since she separated from her husband.
I had an overwhelming amount of damage control to do for my nephew that had just moved in with me: biweekly counselling appointments, meetings with teachers, principals, Children¿¿s Aid and just dealing with all of his emotions I also had to constantly check on my sister (which I had not seen or spoken to in a couple years as per her alcoholic behaviour) I only did this to calm my nephew¿¿s mind. He had become parenthesized caring for her for the past 4 years. His guilt and anxiety of not being there even with me checking in on her caused him to have basically a mental breakdown and daily panic attacks. This was way more than I expected as he seemed great previously when he was with her. Because of this I attempted to get my sister in a couple treatment programs. It failed miserably after a lot of effort and many hours in appointments.
The next big issue I have faced is I am now pregnant. I have been extremely ill and almost bed ridden. The constant all day mornings sickness and dizziness is overwhelming Every time I stand I am dizzy and the nausea is outrageous and the two are cyclical. I have Crohn¿¿s so I have to take prescription vitamins which make the nausea even worse. My OB( which I have to go to London to see as she is one of the best in the province) had to put me on medication for the sickness. As we discussed I went through numerous rounds of failed IVF etc and then ended up having a miracle baby; over a month early and only 4 lbs due to a placental issue thus a very very complicated pregnancy that I had hour long ultrasounds biweekly in London. (I am in Sarnia.) That being my history and as sick as I am, I am also 43 years old and told I have about a 40 chance of miscarriage and not to mention all the other high percentage of issues the baby may have because of me, my illnesses, and my age my fears are real and out of control.
Having been in and out of the hospital will gallbladder attacks. I was scheduled for surgery March 17 to have it removed. That is when I surprisingly found out I was pregnant and all surgeries were canceled due to Covid. So mine was cancelled. I guess I have a very small window of weeks 14-20 of my pregnancy to have surgery when it is safest but until then I have to suffer. I know this is a big cause of why I am so sick, the pain is outrageous at times, exhausting and scary. Just another add to my anxiety and fear I never thought I would get pregnant again and we were taking precautions.
Put this on top of Covid 19 and the fact I have an autoimmune disease, GAD, Chronic Sever Depression and my daughter is vulnerable as well because of preemie asthma, I am doing the best I can but something had to give and because I can¿¿t look at a screen or read because of the dizziness and nausea it was school Being immune suppressed and vulnerable to COVID has escalated my anxiety and depression. This has caused huge stress in my life and has consumed my thoughts and emotions to the point of an inability to function normally in daily living activities. Add on that I am being kept away from my support network and socialization has put my disorders at an all time high level. I have had to alter medications, increase psychiatric appointments and be on a close watch from multiple doctors. The strain that this has put on my family is not explainable. The only saving grace is that my husband is working from home so he has been trying to take care of our daughter and work It is not going well and tensions are high
To top this all off my 64 year old father is moving from moderate to advanced stages of Alzheimer¿¿s disease. We carry the PESN1 gene(early onset) I have not been able to see him and talking on the phone he does not get who he is talking to. By the time this is all over he may not know who I or my daughter is It is so so sad for us.
I am requesting an extension to my Incomplete. I have dropped my summer courses to focus soloy on this course to complete it. My thoughts are that I will be through the first trimester and hopefully this morning sickness will be gone, I am having surgery to remove my gallbladder in 2 weeks so that will make me much healthier. My nephew will be more adjusted and life will be a little more back to normal with the Covid 19 stuff or at least we will be more used to it. I know that the nicer weather also very much helps my depression and gives me more coping mechanisms for my anxiety Hopefully I will be able to see and help with my dad again. There is also the issue of money. I received OSAP and if I drop this course I have to pay it back and the money is gone as it was used to pay tuition and daycare. I don¿¿t have the money and my husband is being laid off at the end of this week until their plant in Mexico can reopen.
