Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I've been in regular contact with both Dr. Aarssen and the Academic Appeal Office via email explaining my situation of wanting to review my final exam in BIOL350 to understand how I obtained the Grade that I did.

After Dr. Aarssen continued to blatantly ignore requests by students, including myself, to see the marks achieved on the evaluations used to calculate final grade, he insisted that we wouldn't allow us to review our final exams until the pandemic is over and also would not provide the marking rubric for the final.

Not only are these actions deplorable and showcase Dr. Aarssen's utterly incompetent behaviour as a Professor, but another reason this is an issue is because over half of the BIOL350 class felt they were unfairly graded on this final without having seen the rubric which demonstrates a clear discrepancy in what was taught in the course and how students were evaluated. These concepts have been made evident by the petition started by students demanding justice for Aarssen's outdated course material, ignorance and direct disrespect having reached over 150 signatures within 10 days.

Today I received an email from the Academic Appeal Office saying they have decided to allow rereads for the BIOL350 final and they said I may request one by filling out this form.

I am formally requesting a reread of my BIOL350 final but am hoping to also contribute to an outcome that has more significant impact than just on my grade for this course.
