Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I believe that 3 of my assignments have been unfairly graded by my professor and would like an unbiased assessment on the quality of my work. My class average prior to Covid was A+. In lieu of a final, the professor gave 3 assignments worth 10 percent each in which I received grades of 52 percent, 66 percent, and 61 percent. I have looked through the feedback the professor gave me, and in a lot of places there is either a lack of comments at all or just very vague comments about her not understanding a step. There are many questions with no statement of whether I am wrong or right but a large loss in marks. I strongly believe that my explanations of my solutions were substantially under evaluated. I can provide my graded work to support this.

I would like to add that my professor accused me of cheating on 2 of these assignments but after investigation decided not to pursue the matter. I believe even though she told me she would not pursue, she this chose to unfairly mark my assignments as punishment. It is unfair for the professor to not follow the proper procedures and make summary judgements on her own.

I truly believe that I know the material and worked very hard on these assignments. I have tried reaching out to my professor to get the class average on each assignment to assess if we were all graded the same, but she has been evasive and uncooperative.
