Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
My name is Brock Kelly I am a 3rd year applied economics student and I am requesting a passing grade in GRMN 102. I recently reached out to my Professor, Monika Holzschuh, for information on how the process would work as I could find little information from the Student Services webpage and she informed me that the deadline had passed and told me to submit an appeal. I had informed her of my intention to requesting a passing grade approximately two months ago during the pre-exam period so she has been very accomodating in this situation and is willing to provide a supporting letter if necessary. My decision request a pass was based on the fact that I was taking German for personal interests rather than as a part of my degree, it was my 6th course and during the confusion of Covid-19 and the move to online classes, I felt I should be focused on the courses that pertained to my degree. The expectation of me being able to request a pass meant my mark dropped significantly after the exam and final assignment during which time I decided to focus on other courses, this can be seen in the disparity between my other course marks (an average of A) and GRMN 102 (c+).
I apologize for the late notice on this, however, I truly feel like I did not receive enough information about how the process would work. I was checking Solus and student services often for any changes as I assumed (and was told by other students) that Solus would be the platform through which it would be handled. Although I should have reached out in person earlier, I feel as if it is not unreasonable for my mark to be changed at this point. Please let me know if you require any further documentation such as a supporting letter.
Best Regards,
Brock Kelly

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Since this is simply a timing issue, there is not much I can plan to improve upon other than reaching out to academic advisors and student services earlier. I understand that they are there to help with these issues I just thought I had more time to do so.
