Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear whomever it may concern,

Due to the coronavirus, I returned home promptly. As I live with a very sick elderly and two children, I was extremely busy during the past few months. As the only english speaker in my household, I had to help with all errands help the 5 year old complete his homework and teach him how to do them (which had become the responsibility of the household because of the virus). Along with many other issues as my parents and uncle work in China, yet they are stuck here unable to return.

I was unaware of the steps queens took as remedies for students during this period of time. I am extremely grateful tha the university has taken these steps and thus am writing an appeal to use these remedies past the deadline. As the remedies are precisely made for studnets like me, who given the situation of the pandemic were extremely busy.

My situation recently has gotten lighter, as the five year old no longer as school, and from my understanding, the coronavirus has become less problematic in my area. Thus, I was able to check the university website and found out about all these remedies.

Thus, I write this appeal to make use of the remedies, allowing me to drop course PHIL 257, and exchange my grade in PHIL 250 to a P grade.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: The past two years in at Queens university, I have not had a goal for my academic career. Because of this, I was unambitious and lost in what I was to be doing. I recognized this issue early on, after my first year at the university.

However, after a year of self reflection and research. I have reached a conclusion in what my goal should be. I have began talks with an academic advisor in asking them what steps I will have to take to reach that goal.

I will first retake all failed courses to increase my GPA significantly. I will also begin joining more clubs at queens to be more involved with the community. I realized after my second year, that taking lighter course loads were not the solution. Instead I will be taking BIOL 102, Chem 112 and Math 121 along with some failed classes to have a foundation for my goal of getting into medicine.

When the school year begins, I will also consult faculty deans and ask what other steps I could take to reach my goal. I understand that given my past two years, my current academic standing is poor. Because of this, I will need to put in many more hours than my peers. This is something I understand.
