Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I found it much more difficult than expected to work during the quarantine due to struggles with an extremely depressed mood and anxiety issues that severely affected by motivation to be productive. As a result I continuously fell more and more behind on the content as the course went on and was unprepared for the midterm and assignments.
Although I have experienced these issues before I have not seen a mental health professional and thus do not have documentation from one to support this appeal. The reasons for this are complicated and relate to general stigmatization of mental health (especially in Jordan, where I was raised and first experienced these issues); I was especially discouraged in this case because it was impossible to see one in person and I was very uncomfortable with doing it over a video call (I am planning on seeing one when it becomes possible to do so in person). I realize this may weaken my appeal but I hope you believe me in spite of this and do not see this appeal as an excuse for laziness; I promise you it is so much more than that.
I did not drop it earlier because I was hoping I would feel better and be able to catch up, but at this point I am too behind on the content and too far into the course for this to be feasible. I have attempted to set a schedule that would have me on track to catching up multiple times, however, due to the aforementioned motivational issues I quickly fell behind on them too. Since this course is required within my major, I would be grateful to have another chance to take this course next semester so that I can study the content carefully and be more prepared for my future studies and career in psychology.
Thank you for your time.
