Dear Dr, Jenn Stephenson, Associate Dean of Academics
Please allow John Caden Hodgson to drop his course PHGY 215/3.0 as he missed dropping without academic penalty by one day due to medical reasons. He suffers from ADHD, anxiety and chronic insomnia which has been heightened by the Pandemic.
Caden missed his midterm exam on approximately June 8th 2020 and 2nd assignment on June 15th, 2020.
The medication he was taking caused hyper-somnolence and he was unable to perform optimally. With the new online learning situation Caden also neglected to provide his accommodation notes to his professor at the beginning of his course stating he requires extra time to do his studies.
Caden did not ask his professor to allow him to write the exam at a later date and felt he would not be allowed to do so without
proof of his accomodation. Due to his anxiety that comes with his insomnia; he did not remedy the situation and the drop date passed.
Currently he is enrolled in a course in coding and functioning well on his new medication. Thank you for your consideration.
Yours truly
