Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to you to advise that I have officially withdrawn from Queens for the remainder of the 2014/15 academic year. Prior to the Christmas holidays I removed my personal belongings from residence (December 17th) and have submitted the appropriate documentation to Queens.

This letter is to request/appeal to have my Introduction to Greek Civilization course mark removed from my academic records.

The reason I have withdrawn from school is due to personal issues that affected my ability to succeed as a student at Queens. I have accepted that I had a very difficult time last semester, and as a result my grades were affected poorly. I hate to justify my poor academic performance, but I would like to explain the unfortunate situation I was in. I was over the top excited to be coming to Queens for my first year in university and to get away from home to experience living on my own with more freedom. Soon after arriving to Kingston I realized I couldn't deal with being away from home and away from my family. Starting from the second week of school I was going home to Mississauga every other weekend for extended periods because I felt so lost and lonely at school. I realize this was not in my best interests academically, however it was the only way I could manage the situation at that time. I had a very difficult time integrating myself with fellow students and the school curriculum. I was lonely and became depressed. As a result of these feelings I missed many classes and assignments as I felt more comfortable staying in my room all day.

I am trying to deal with the situation and hope to come back to Queens in a better state of mind. I am seeking assistance through my family doctor. That being said, I would like to have the grade I received for Introduction to Greek Civilization removed from my record so it does not affect my future career studies.

I thank you for your understanding and look forward to your response and direction.

Sincerely,

Rheagan McKinnon
