Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Two weeks ago (July 19th), I started to become physically ill. I was unable to concentrate or get out of bed for too long. Therefore, I was unable to complete any of the work for my summer MUSC 171 and RELS 131 courses. I was unable to complete almost all of the work for MUSC 171, except for two tests (I still needed to complete a three part assignment, the final exam and a paper). For that reason, I feel that it is best to just have the course dropped as I was unable to complete most of the work due to my illness. I have completed most of the work for RELS 131, however when I got sick, I was working on a research essay (which I have not yet completed) and missed the deadline. I was also unable to write the final exam, which is due August 5th. Since I have complete a lot of the course, I was hoping to get an extension for the course. I would do the work when I started to feel better and would complete it sometime in the fall. I recently saw my primary healthcare provider, who has begun to treat my illness and hopes that I will improve in the next few weeks. I am open to having both classes dropped or both classes extended. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
