Petition Letter

Petition Letter: The extenuating circumstances for which I am requesting an extension regarding the ability to change these two marks from a D level grade to a pass in these courses is as follows. I was unable to exercise the option of changing these D level marks into a pass during the time period in which it was offered by Queen's University. This is because I was working remotely tree planting north of Price George for Celtic Reforestation Services Ltd. with no access to internet or cell service. Due to Covid-19, the tree planting crews of Celtic were not permitted to leave camp and were required to self isolate in small teams; I had no ability to go into Prince George, or any other town, to access a public computer or Internet. Accordingly, I was unable to see my grades, and therefore was not able to exercise the option to change my marks. I left for Prince George on the 28th of April, and began working at the beginning of May. I have only just returned home this past week. As well, I believe that my marks in these courses were directly affected because of the situation in which I was put in prior to writing my exams. During the weeks before starting my work tree planting, I was forced to quarantine remotely at my family's farm in the Eastern Townships in Quebec with no Internet access. I had attended a family member's wedding in Georgeville, Quebec on March 14th. There were out of town guests from Europe and Uganda, a number of whom fell ill and subsequently tested positive for Covid-19, including my mother, and aunt and uncle. Our family and others who had attended the wedding were forced to quarantine and none of us were able to leave that region of Quebec, or travel outside of the province of Quebec. It was very difficult to study and write exams during this uncertain time period.
