Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am filing this appeal to request a swap from History 301 to History 303. Originally when picking my courses I tried to get into History 303 however could not because of scheduling conflict with other classes. However now that we have gotten into the groove of online learning, I realize that I would not be missing any lectures in my other courses, as they are all prerecorded and can be accessed online at any time. The other reason that I am asking to make this switch is because I am noticing that my 3 history courses - 301, 243 and 296 are all very similar;243 looks at the crusades, 296 looks heavily at the medieval Middle East and 301 examines both topics. While the medieval period interests me greatly I also have an interest in Latin American and Carribean history. I feel like I am being exposed to medieval history a great deal through my other courses and would really appreciate the opportunity to examine an other area of history to give me some more variety and help narrow down my focus going forward in my academic career. I know that I am a few weeks behind but I am more than confident that I can work hard and catch up in History 303 and would really appreciate it if I could switch. I know that the choice to enroll in these courses is no one's fault but my own, however heinsight is 20/20 and had I known that I could make it work I would have reached out to the department much earlier. I hope the switch can be approved however if not, I completely understand.
