Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Stephenson,
I am appealing to add LING 310 (Fall, 2020) to my schedule in replace of LAW 202 (Fall, 2020). During the enrolment period, I was unable to add LING 310 to my schedule before the deadline as it conflicted with my required MATH 121 course. I took LAW 202 in its place; however, I am struggling with the delivery of the course content and I feel the professor is not providing me with enough support in order to succeed in this course, despite having reached out for help.
It would be more beneficial for me to drop LAW 202 and take LING 310 now that my MATH 121 class is asynchronous and therefore no longer presents a conflict with LING 310. Due to unforeseen circumstances related to a COVID-19 threat in my house, I was unable to switch these two courses within the allotted time. This issue began on Friday, September 18th, 2020 and was resolved on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020. I did not look into switching these courses before this past Friday because I wanted to allow a sufficient amount of time to pass before deciding to switch the course. I was allotting two weeks to test the material before looking to do so, however because of the aforementioned circumstances, I was unable to do so.
As of today, there is an available seat in LING 310, which I would like to fill. I would greatly appreciate being added to this class and I am aware of the extra commitment required to catch up on missed work. I am motivated to do well in this course and am fully prepared to devote the extra time in order to catch up on the content. I have studied this subject in the past and was successful with it because I thoroughly enjoyed the material.
I appreciate your time and consideration and I look forward to your response.
