Petition Letter: While I was completing my ANAT 100 course I fell quite ill. In July I caught the flu and was unable to leave my bed for multiple weeks. Initially I thought it was Covid-19, and got tested when I had the strength to do so. When I got my results back they were negative, and I was able to self-isolate and rest a little bit better knowing that I did not have Covid. At this time doctors in Manitoba were not seeing patients if they were ill so I was just stuck with over the counter medication. By only taking over the counter medication this slowed my recovery process quite a bit.
After combating the flu I then had surgery on my left meniscus, and due to the medication I was given I was never in a state Post - Op where I could actually complete my homework. I was constantly asleep or in pain following the operation.
Unfortunately, I did not communicate these issues with my teachers. They were unaware of my illness and surgery. If I had the energy to communicate I would've but having to fight off the flu and then go through surgery was not an easy thing for me to do.
I also have a full time job and when I returned I was quite behind with work and there was little to no time left in my course.
I hope you can understand.
Thank you,
Kyle Moraldo
