Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am appealing the Faculty of Arts and Science's decision to allow the addition of BCHM 441 late for the Fall 2020 term. The extenuating circumstances to be considered are: I was on a Study Abroad program during the 2019-2020 academic year. It was terminated early and I returned home to complete the rest of the semester online. The University of St. Andrews allowed me to resit an exam in August 2020, thus I did not receive my academic transcript until September 1st. I submitted my post-transfer credits form with supporting documentation (transcript) so that course equivalency may be assessed by the Department of Biochemistry in order for me to enroll in my 400 level courses. Due to the busy time of year and the late submission, it took a while for the Department to reach out for clarification. Subsequent to course equivalency assessment, I was enrolled to BCHM 410, 432 (Fall) and BCHM 411 (Winter) on September 21st. However, my Degree Plan requires only 6.0 units from either BCHM 410, 432, or 411, and requires 3.0 units from BCHM 441 (Fall) to graduate. I realized this immediately and requested to be transferred from BCHM 432 to BCHM 441 as I cannot graduate without this course. This could not be completed until a week later as some workers from the Department were on holidays

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: If the appeal is successful, I may be able to continue my semester as planned and meet my requirements to graduate this year, rather than wait till next Fall to register in this one course (BCHM 441). Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
