Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Academic Associate Dean,

I am appealing to drop GPHY 105 (Fall, 2020).
This semester I took 5 courses, 4 of which are mandatory, this one being the elective.
I have a mental disability that affects my ability to focus and study, for which I was given accommodations.
Last year I was on medication that helped me focus and you could see that I was very successful thanks to it, and got on the Dean¿¿s list.
This semester, I had to stop taking the medication as it was badly affecting other aspects of my life and health, and because of this and the fact that school is now online, I am really struggling to keep up and maintain the same level of success as last year.
I had a much easier time when classes were in-person, as I could keep myself engaged and focused, but now I find that online learning decreases my ability to focus for long periods of time and along with me not taking my medication, it was too much for me to handle.
At the beginning of the semester, I was able to keep up with the work from all my courses, but as time passed by, I found the course load to be overwhelming and challenging.
I still tried to continue and do the work from all my courses up until a few days ago when I realized that I was in a big delay in the GPHY course as I was focusing on my mandatory courses.
I really apologize for not sending this in sooner, the reason being that I really didn¿¿t want to drop any course, but I realized it was the best decision for my other mandatory courses, so that my mark won¿¿t be badly affected.
My future plan is if summer semester is also going to be online, to take an elective course and close the gap, but if not, I will have to take 6 courses in one of the semesters in later years.
I also attached the letter of accommodation for this course for your reference, please let me know if any additional information or documents is required.
I will really appreciate your understanding and consideration for this.
