Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I have written this appeal letter because of technical issues that I was unable to notice earlier, I attempted to drop the course before the academic deadline, however for some reason perhaps due to poor internet, I was unable to drop the course. I did not carefully check if the course was dropped from my courseload, as I had to proceed with my other courses. The online delivery of courses has been difficult for me, especially for a course that I had struggled with before. As a result of COVID-19 I am unable to do many things that would allow me to have a better mental state. The stress of having poor first year marks, has definetly caused a large amount of extra stress, as I wish to pursue post graduate studies and I am afraid of the possible ramifications of another failure in this course. I was doing alright in the course before the reading break, but afterwards I could not leave the house because of lockdown procedures. Having a decline in how I was doing in the course led to more mental problems, I was extremely anxious and this thus led to poor sleep and more problems. After missing a few weeks of material, I fell severely behind to a point where I would most likely fail the course if I do not withdraw from the course. I plan to retake this course in the summer where I would have less stress and a much lighter work load. I took some time off from the course, as I was doing better in other courses, and this would help with the mental problems I was having. I am not a person that enjoys speaking to other people about personal problems, as my pride would not allow me to do so. I took some time off the course and worked harder in other courses, which have helped me with my mental state. This is why I would liek top withdraw from this course and retake it later on, where I would have more time to tackle this and not compete with the courses that have more weight to me from a degree standpoint.
