Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am requesting an appeal in order to drop POLS 261 sans academic penalty due to my worsening psychological health conditions that have emerged this semester. They first emerged in the middle of October and continued to worsen as the semester progressed and became more stressful. I experienced severe anxiety including weekly anxiety attacks and severe mood swings that prevented me from completing work or paying attention to lecture videos. I have gotten help in the form of counselling, academic aid, and medications but I still face these issues daily.

Due to this condition, I became overwhelmed with the amount of work to complete and have found it extremely difficult to complete work on a daily basis, especially starting and planning major essays. This has resulted in me having fallen behind in all of my courses and I will not be able to catch up in all of them. That is why I am requesting to drop POLS 261 as I feel it would allow me to spend my time catching up on my other courses and finish this semester as best I can.
