Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am submitting this appeal at the request of my academic advisor who helped me change my degree. I changed programs from Economics BAH with a minor in biology to a general BA in economics for personal reasons. As a result of my degree change, the courses I am requesting to drop no longer fit in my program plan. Following the meeting with the academic advisor, which took place after the add-drop period, we determined the best path forwards for me was to drop the minor as well as the courses required for my initial degree, which are no longer applicable to my current degree plan. These additional courses have been adding tremendous stress and anxiety during these times, and I have been struggling to keep up with the content. These two courses are considered some of the most difficult courses in the economics department and as they are no longer applicable to my degree, they will only hinder me academically. I have changed degrees because I hope to graduate at the end of this school year and, because of personal problems endured throughout last school year, I could no longer continue with the biology degree. Now after dropping Econ 255 and 351 I will be on track to graduate this coming April. I understand that this appeal is coming quite a significant period of time after the add/drop date, however, due to the timing of my academic meeting; it was impossible to have my courses dropped before the add/drop date.
