Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
Hello, my name is Maxwell Dinsmore, I am appealing to drop the course CISC 102(Fall 2020), course code3755. My NetId code is 19MSD5 and my student number is 20228364. I would like to make the appeal to drop due the circumstances of the pandemic occurring. The pandemic has greatly affected my studies this year has most greatly affected my studies within the class CISC 102. With this being my first year of university I greatly underestimated the workload that I would have to deal with at school. The stress that the pandemic put on me greatly affected my mindset when studying. The constant stress being put upon me by the situation of the pandemic has affected my mental health and so affect my ability. As well as that we are learning from home also did since I am not in a proper environment for learning. I was unable to properly get taught by the professors in class which degraded my understanding of the material.
I chose to drop this course specifically because this course had most greatly affected the workload of my fall classes this year. I did not choose to drop this course earlier due to my negligence and indecisiveness. I overestimated my ability to get my marks back up with the time that I had left in the fall semester and I was impacted based off all the other deadlines I had to reach. Since I am not able to finish this course now, I plan to retake it.
I plan to retake this class during the summer of 2021 when I should have no conflicts doing so then. I will have a lighter workload and be able to achieve higher marks and understanding in the class. This should allow me to achieve greater academic success in my time at Queens.

Thank you for your time in reading this and I hope you consider my request.
-Maxwell Dinsmore
