Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am submitting this appeal to drop the course CMPE 422. My Mother returned home from the hospital on Thursday December 3rd after having surgery. She is still recovering and needs to be looked after. She has trouble walking on her own and needs help with eating and taking care of herself. She cannot stomach much so she does not each much, but gets hungry often so she needs a lot of help just to eat. I can provide more information of her condition if needed. I do not believe I can continue in this course without a heavy impact on my grades. I need to be constantly on call in case she needs help with something and often spend a lot of time with her if she is not feeling well. Having to help her has greatly impacted my ability to work on an assignment in this course that is due tomorrow (December 7th). Not being able to work on this assignment and still having an exam left to do in this course is too much for me to handle. I believe this is the only course I need dropped because my other courses are mostly done, just an exam and an assignment in different courses, both on the 18th and the 22nd of December. I think I would be able to focus and manage these two courses if I am able to drop CMPE 422. Thank you for your time.
