Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I have decided to begin the academic appeals process to drop three of my courses, those being POLS 230, 261 and HIST 286. The reason for this is that I have been suffering from depression during this fall term (Fall 2020), which has severely impacted my ability to complete and submit my work. Earlier in the term, I personally believed that I could improve, but sadly, it was not to be. Owing to my inability to complete my work, my grades have dropped to the point where not dropping courses would be detrimental both to my GPA and to my being able to seek assistance outside of school for my issues. I began seeing a therapist on the advice of my doctor and SWS a few weeks ago, however, at this point, I do not believe my grades are recoverable for the three half year courses I have. I will have to look into the possibility of dropping courses for next term as well, but I will do that in January. I aim to make up for the dropped courses over the summer. I regret not taking action sooner, however, at this point, I believe that dropping those three half year courses is the only acceptable course of action.
Thank you for your time and considering my case,
Benjamin Bomberg
