Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am applying for AG in MATH221/ECON112/ENIN200 for which I have completed 72/60(WITH INSTRUCTORS PERMISSION HE HAS GIVEN ME 60 OF COURSEWORK INSTEAD OF 50, will be shown in documentation)/80. I am applying for incomplete in physics and am hoping to continue this summer semester 2021.

In October 2019 I had an MRI in Toronto because of various odd symptoms I was experiencing, the MRI results I received whilst in Australia last Xmas, the report showed a 5-6mm lesion in the right dentate nucleus of my brain.

I saw A/Prof Peter Hand a neurologist in Australia who recommended I have a repeat MRI in 9 months to see if there is any growth and if not it could be scar tissue from an illness I had as a baby.

I had the follow up MRI in Toronto September 2020 and the results showed a growth in the lesion as it is now 8-10mm.
I then had another follow up contrasting MRI which confirmed the growth of the lesion.
I was put on an urgent list to see a neurologist in Toronto but I could not get an appointment until June 2021
At that point my parents and I decided we would return to Australia for medical assessment and treatment.

I returned to Australia on the 21 November with my parents and were put into mandatory police quarantine for 14 days.
When I arrived in Australia I was in very bad pain due to a flare up of a reoccuring condition I have suffered with for 2 years called Prostatisis.
This probably occured due to prolonged sitting time from study and travel and the stress I am under due to my health and University commitments.
I was taken to the emergency department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where they treated my problems with Ciprofloxin and Panadeine Forte(Codeine)
This medication impairs your ability to focus and retain information and I was unable to study in the state I was in which made my anxiety highten as I could not do my work.
I began to experience panic attacks.
My Urologist is performimg a a Cystoscopy which is happening on the 21st of December to determine why this is happening or whether it is related to my brain issues.

Since my return to Australia I have been dealing with extreme prostate pain as well as pain from Neurological symptoms such as shooting pains, body aches, headaches, vision issues,as well as immense anxiety to the point of panic attacks from the fear that I might die.

This is my reason for extenuating circumstance which I have applied for and sent relevant documents.
I have also applied for COVID impact due to the quarantine situation.
I received Extenuating Circumstances from November 21st - January 6th.
I am now appealing for AG for 3 courses, and IN for another due to the above issues.
My academic performance has been greatly impacted and I have not been able to continue my studies.
I am in so much pain and it hurts to sit down, the codeine and anxiety make it impossible for me to work and retain information also having ADHD makes it even harder.
I can't focus on anything due to my life potentially being at risk.

I would really appreciate acceptance of my appeal as I feel I have done so much work, even though throughout the semester I have been going through this and made it almost to the end. As for next semester I have to see what the diagnosis of my tests are before making any decisions. I have a plan for cancer or a tumor which is to get surgery which could potentially paralyze me. I have a plan for MS which would be focus on me instead of school for a semester and on treating it so I can be fit to live a normal life.

Again, I would really appreciate acceptance of my appeal, I a¿m try very hard to get through this situation.
I am a person not a robot, these health issues have a major effect on me and I feel it is unfair to say I am in equal positions to any student who is currently healthy, hence my appeals.
