Dear Associate Dean (Studies),

I am appealing to drop MUSC245 (Fall 2020)

My request is due to a death in my immediate family which caused issues regarding my mental health that have affected my academic performance throughout this term.

This term, among all the anxieties of COVID, I received news that a member of my immediate family had passed away. This was quite sudden and was, and still remains a very emotional time for my family. I submitted a form of academic consideration, and had to take quite a bit of time to be with my family, which needed to be the priority at the time. Returning to my classes and completing assignments proved to be extremely difficult as I struggle with anxiety on top of my attempts to grieve. My ability to focus and my motivation to start my assignments was directly effected due to this. This alongside the transition to online school this year was very overwhelming, and while I am catching up in most of my courses, I know that I am attempting to take on too much in my current mental state.

I have been in contact with my professors and am currently completing the work we have discussed for myself to remain successful in these courses. Unfortunately for MUSC245, due to the amount of material I have missed, it would not be possible. I have already emailed the professor to inform her of this appeal. I have also contacted my academic advisor to enrol me in a suitable course in either the winter or summer term to make-up the credits lost.
