Letter of Appeal
To: Associate Dean (Studies)

I am requesting that my courses, CLST 214 and HIST 286 (Fall 2014) be dropped after the academic deadline so that I can withdraw from these courses without academic penalty.

I have continued to struggle with anxiety and depression from before Christmas 2012 and have not been functioning well at school or home since that time. My sleep and appetite continue to be affected. I am under the care of my family doctor, and we have started a course of medication to see if that will help me. We are adjusting the dosage as required.

This fall I enrolled in four courses in an effort to catch up some of my courses and I tried to work through my difficulties as I was feeling much more positive. I continued to experience difficulty but did manage to pass one of my courses.

Failing two of the courses was very disheartening and led me to the difficult decision that perhaps Queens is not the right place for me to continue my university education. I have returned for one last semester and am taking two courses hoping to be successful with them.

I intend to apply to Ryerson University with a view to starting classes in September 2015. This will allow me to live at home and be closer to my family and my doctor. My goal is to continue and finish my university education.

Thank you for your consideration.
