Petition Letter
Petition Letter: About a month ago I was hit in the head and was in a ton of pain since. I was unable to go on my phone screen, and any lights and noise severely caused my head to be in severe pain. This injury has caused me to suffer from a Cerebral acceleration/deceleration injury. The impact from the specifically affected my left neck, (a nerve) which I had already previously injured therefore resulting in severe headaches. Being a prior athlete my entire life, in grade 12 i suffered from 2 concussions and was diagnosed with second impact syndrome. These concussions happened in the span of 2 weeks. From this injury in grade 12 until today, with treatment i have still suffered from these side effects but have pushed through them by adapting to them and understanding this is how it is. However, because of this past trauma to my head i am more prone to getting concussions, and whiplash, and when hit in the head, I regularly feel symptoms much more severely, and it takes longer for me to recover. This injury has even impacted me to not be able to focus for long periods of time without right now having pain in my head. Which causes me to take many breaks and putting at a disadvantage not only in school, but in my daily life. This injury happened Nov 15th. I was bedridden for about 2 weeks (with no screens and no schoolwork). I got in to see my specialist the last week of November in person but was updating and following his suggestions as soon as the injury took place on Nov 15th. Ive been seeing my concussion specialist weekly and receiving treatment(still am). The first week of December my doctor allowed me to have 2 hours per day screen time if I wish to start schoolwork (which I did). Due to my health set back and the timeline of GPHY 304, I had missed the last assignment (topic given the day before injury) and the last quiz. Ive been updated Professor Lamoureux since the injury, and he supports me applying for the AG status, and encouraged me to do so based on my current health setback, the course timeline, and my recovering. Professour Lamoureux said he will be happy to support my case if contacted, and my doctor also said he will support and provide any futher documentation needed to the school if contacted.
