Dear Sir/Madam,
RE: Appeal
I am appealing to drop CISC 101 (Fall, 2020).
I have been suffering from severe depression and anxiety throughout the Fall term of 2020 which has affected my functioning, and consequently, ability to participate in courses. Due to these circumstances, it has been difficult for me to keep up with classes and attend lectures on schedule. The result of this was that I was unable to complete and submit work on time, and fell behind in the course.
To deal with being behind in my courses I spoke with an academic skills specialist from Student Academic Success Services on October 21 and was working towards completing my courses. However, during October 26-30 the aforementioned conditions regarding mental health became debilitating. Consequently, I was unable to complete my courses or drop them before the deadline. After this I met with a counsellor from Student Wellness Services on November 12 and November 17.
I have dropped the rest of my courses: MATH 111 and MATH 121. As well, I will be take a leave of absence and defer my studies for the upcoming term (Winter, 2021) in order to focus on recovery. I also plan to enrol in a long-term counselling program and maintain regular meetings with a personal counsellor. With professional help, I hope to return to studies next September (Fall, 2021) and I will retake CISC 101 along with MATH 111 and MATH 121 then.
It would be much appreciated if my appeal can be granted. Thank you very much for your consideration.
Regards,
