Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies):
I am appealing to drop English 281 which I am currently enrolled in for the Fall 2020 term. I have been struggling with debilitating health issues since the end of last year. I had hoped that my health would improve throughout this term. Instead, I unfortunately already had to drop two other courses, and I was able to do so before the final drop date, with the hopes of handling the remaining two. To manage my illness, I am currently complying with all treatment suggestions from my doctor at Queen's Family Medicine, Dr. Meghan Wilson. As a result, I have seen improvements in my health. Still, I have discussed it with Professor Ruth Wehlau and concluded that I am too far behind to complete English 281 and I believe attempting to do so would be detrimental to my health. Dropping English 281 would allow me to focus on completing the other course I am enrolled in, English 487. I have chosen to prioritize English 487 now and throughout the term as it is an upper-level seminar. Fortunately, I have managed to keep up with the course work. I ask that you grant my appeal to drop English 281 so I can reduce my workload, complete English 487 and have more time to continue to recover over the holidays. If these changes are enacted, then I am confident I will be able to fully participate in the Winter 2021 term.
I will be attaching a note from Dr. Meghan Wilson to this appeal shortly.
Thank you for considering my appeal,
Isabel Reid
