Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Deans,
I am appealing to drop RELS131 (Summer, 2020) and FILM260 (Summer, 2020) due to an ongoing illness.
I had an approved Academic Consideration request for these two courses for the time period of 07-31-2020 to 10-07-2020 on record. However, on September 20, I was diagnosed with High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion, which is a type of precancerous cells that require surgery to be removed and possible long term treatment. It has been a difficult time for me to cope with the uncertainties of this critical illness all by myself during quarantine, and I was also overwhelmed by the fear of catching the virus every time I visited the hospitals for necessary in-person appointments. After I had my surgery done on December 2nd, 2020, which required 6-8 weeks for a full recovery, I¿¿ve determined that it was impossible for me to complete these two courses within the fall term.
I believed that I could perform better if I drop these two courses and retake them in the summer if I am in a better health condition. I would definitely consider registering for Academic Accommodation with QSAS for additional help.
Thank you for your time reading this letter. Please let me know if I need to provide any other supporting documentation.
Sincerely,
Wanyi Pei
