Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hi my name is Quinn Peacock and I am looking to appeal these three courses from my first term of my third year. One of the circumstances that directly impacted myself during the semester was an immediate family member being fatally ill and hospitalized for the majority of my first semester, along with another one of my family members being hospitalized twice which became very overwhelming while I was trying to continue schooling. A second circumstance that I had to deal with was my own health as I had pneumonia for a month. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 it took over two weeks to be assessed by a doctor, get a chest x-ray at the hospital and to finally be medicated on high-dosage antibiotics, and another week to finally feel well-enough to return back to schooling. After these events, I became increasingly unwell and my mental health took a turn for the worst. In the past semester I have had multiple mental health crises, and tried to manage it as best as I could with a QSAS counsellor and tried to push myself to complete my courses. I have been in the process of getting a mental health assessment and other medical work done as the doctor believes my prior diagnoses are inaccurate which has prolonged the process of me being properly medicated for my condition. Although I have left two of my courses, I found that these were the only courses I could manage between all of these events due to their specific deadlines that somehow worked out in the short time periods where I was able to do some work. I was optimistic that I could complete the courses and continued to attempt my schooling but evidently, many issues kept arising to the point where I could barely manage to take care of myself.
