Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this letter due to an issue I had with one of my courses (ENIN 240) last semester. I want to start off by just saying that I enjoyed the course and thought that it was taught well considering the strange circumstances that the world finds itself in. Now the reason I am writing this letter is due to the fact that at the end of the semester I had an issue with a self reflection survey that was worth 20 of my mark. The issue is that I received no notifications on on q or any emails about this and with every course being online because of COVID I genuinely just didn¿¿t see this. I checked that I finished all the assessments for this course and I didn¿¿t know about the survey let alone the fact that it¿¿s worth 20. I finished all the other course work every week including participating in weekly discussions forms, weekly quizzes and assignments which made me spend a lot of time on this course, so seeing this really hurts not just because it brings my gpa down and effects my job applications for this summer, but also the fact that I don¿¿t think that it¿¿s the mark that I deserve. I also don¿¿t believe that this issue would have occurred in a regular school year where I would have been given an in class notice prior to the due date and in addition I would have a social aspect with my peers. I feel it is wrong that I worked hard all year to have a good grade then have it drop because of this. If it was a final assignment or quiz that I missed or didn't see then I understand, but I made sure to look at the assignment and quiz pages multiple times after I handed in the last assignment to see if I finished everything and the survey was not on those pages nor did I receive an email or onq notification about this. I feel as though all the hard work that I spent on this course is not being reflected here by my grade. Again, I stress that this was genuinely an oversight and given my history of being involved with the course and handing everything in on time I believe there should be some flexibility.
