Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Evans and all,
I received a poor grade on my term paper worth 30 of my final grade. Upon reviewing the feedback and notes, I emailed both the TA and Dr. Evans regarding my concerns on the matter. The feedback was insufficient and I felt that my essay was not read to its entirety. I also took time to note that because we didn't receive our first papers back in efficient time, I was unable to meet the expectations set out, let alone learn from any errors.
I wrote a detailed email to Dr. Evans following our final exam and was I would receive additional feedback after the exams have concluded. As I had not heard from Dr. Evans, I followed up again on January 9, 2021 and have not received any form of communication as to when she would review my comments on the feedback provided by the TA. I can understand if there was a need to shut down after a semester, but again anything back would be appreciated rather than this hanging in limbo.
I appreciate that the class had about 65 people in it, but I have been in classes double that where I received adequate feedback in time ahead of other assignments being due. Furthermore, any concerns on feedback were addressed in a timely manner as well. Unfortunately, reasons such as too old to stay up late marking does not sit well with me as a student who wants to thrive in her education and so she may take this knowledge and pass it on to her own students down the road. That is not to say I don't appreciate how much work any educator needs to put in, but when you're paying for a class, you expect more.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and would appreciate it being resolved.
Sincerely,
Carly Noonan
