Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing this appeal letter because currently I am only enrolled in three courses for the 2021 winter semester instead of the recommended 5. Since the end of the fall semester (2020), I have been waitlisted for KNPE 337 and KNPE 363. Approaching the deadline for adding courses, I was very concerned because I was still on the waitlist and was not sure what to do. I attempted to add 2 other courses (as backup courses) but was unable to as it said that I had too many credits. So, I called the Queens Arts and Science department and asked an academic advisor what I should do. Since I was the number 3 spot and number 5 spot on the waitlist, the advisor told me to keep the waitlisted courses, and that I would be taken. As a result, I did not remove these waitlisted courses and ended up not getting into either of the courses. It is very important for me that I get into these courses because over the summer I will be studying for the MCAT and do not want to be taking other courses during that period. I hope that I will be able to be enrolled in these 2 courses so that I am not behind on my degree.
