Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am writing to request an appeal for the failing grade I received in the course ENGL 223. I suddenly became ill in November which prevented me from being able to do any academic work. I reached out to my professors for extensions on assignments and all of them were very accommodating except for one, Dr. Heather Evans.

Since Dr. Evans refused to grant me an extension regardless of my accommodations and extenuating circumstances, I contacted Deb Bruce at QSAS Intake, who wrote a letter to Dr. Evans on my behalf to accommodate my situation. Dr. Evans did not respond.

I would like to get credit for the course as I believe I could have successfully completed the course if my work was marked fairly, I was given feedback to improve, and I had the opportunity to complete the missed assignment.

I am also writing to request an appeal to drop ENIN 340 and DRAM 205 for the failing grade I received. Similarly, I became ill and was not able to complete the work for those courses.

I look forward to an equitable and speedy resolution to this situation.
