Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I will be appealing my ECON 320 and ENSC 321 grades from the Fall 2019 semester. Requesting that ECON 320 be dropped from my transcript and that ENSC 321 receive a CR standing.

The reason for my delay in this appeal is because I was led to believe that these issues would have been jointly resolved in a previous appeal that was submitted earlier last year in the Fall of 2019. That same appeal (which you may remember), which was the ECON 351 Appeal that had been on-going for more than a year, and had just concluded towards the end of last semester (Fall 2020). As the end of that appeal process neared, it was Ms. Pamela Briand who advised me that I would need to submit a separate appeal to deal with the issue of ECON 320 and ENSC 321 of the Fall 2019 semester, as ECON 320 was mistakenly included by the economics department into the academic issue that only involved ECON 351. Given that the ECON 351 dispute was just resolved at the end of last term,and the Associate Dean agreed that ECON 320 should be excluded, only then was I informed that ECON 320 would require its own appeal; given that the ECON 351 dispute came with its own unique challenges that needed singling out until it was finally resolved at the end of the Fall 2020 semester (only allowing me to now write this appeal). Justifying why this appeal may be coming in quite late in comparison to the standard appeal deadlines. Ms. Pamela Briand however at the time had also reassured me that given the circumstances, this delay would be acceptable.

I would have submitted this appeal right at the very end of the term when I was notified by the Associate Dean, however, that was the exact same time period by which the Fall Exam period began. Allowing me no time whatsoever to write the Appeal then as I had 5 exams to prepare for and dedicate all my energy towards. Justifying why I am sending this out now. Again, Ms. Pamela Briand advised me that submitting an Appeal for ECON 320 and ENSC 321 was totally justifiable given ECON 320's wrongful inclusion and my inability to get involved in another Appeal until the 351 issue was resolved (which was resolved only recently).

Again I do want to clarify that for ECON 320, my main concern stems from the same issue the Associate Dean was able to identify when I originally raised the concern in the ECON 351 dispute, that ECON 320 should have never been wrongfully included with the ECON 351 dispute. Additionally, also not allowing me to address the issues surrounding ENSC 321 then given the priority which was given to the very long and on-going ECON 351 dispute.
