Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am appealing to add RELS 223 to my course schedule after the add/drop deadline. On January 20, I contacted the course instructor (Colin Simonds) in order to receive permission to join the class. He responded, ¿¿I¿¿d be happy to have you in the course. Please take this as my approval and send it off to whomever is responsible for overriding the conflict on solus.¿ Despite this however, I was not enrolled in the class and instead put on the waitlist at position 1. I proceeded to remain on the waitlist for a couple days until I got word that the professor expanded the class size. Despite this, I was still not successfully enrolled into the course. Moreover, I currently need one more class to graduate and I was under the impression I could get into this course.

RELS 223 is a course I have been wanting to take for a while as Buddhism and meditation are topics that have always interested me and how they contribute towards self development and betterment. I really believe that taking this class will help me better understand myself and teach me how to get through mental and spiritual challenges (such as the ones created by the COVID-19 pandemic).
