New Information: 3.3.2 ¿¿ To Drop a Class after the Last Official Date for Dropping Classes

I wish to drop PHYS212, PHYS216, PHYS250, and PHYS372 from the 2020 Winter Term.

I also wish to drop MATH225 from the Winter 2019 Term,
and MATH221 and PHYS206 from the Fall 2019 Term, which I will elaborate on below.

For the Winter and Fall 2019 courses, I had completed all course content up until the final exams. I ended up deferring all of them due to mental illness and substance abuse.

I was hoping to eventually write the final exams as I had completed most of the course¿¿s content and had done quite well in them. In retrospect, I realize I should have applied for Aegrotat standing or CR standing when I still could. Those courses had incomplete (IN) standing up until August 2020, after which they all switched to F's. Now all that I can do is drop them completely.

The same situation took place for my 2020 Winter Term courses. I completed most of the material, but my mental health gradually got worse as the semester went on. I had QSAS accommodations that semester that allowed me to defer some assignments and exams, but I could not follow through with completing the rest of the course content because of a drug overdose in March. I ended up hospitalized and flying home to Vancouver for treatment. I needed to focus primarily on my health during that time and was not able to complete any of the final exams

I am wishing to drop these courses, rather than retaking them, because I will be applying to change my degree from a 4-year BScH to a 3-year BSc GEOL degree - for which after this semester I will have enough credits.

I am doing this because it will be best for my recovery. I am currently doing an outpatient rehabilitation program, 10 hours a week for 8 weeks with Edgewood, and will continue a similar but more intensive program after graduating so that I can fully recover.

With all of that being said, I do not want these dark times in my life to forever define my abilities as a student, since I would like to go back into academia after fully recovered. I have begun a career in geophysics that I love, and want to succeed to the best of my ability in that field.

I realize how important it is to take accountability for my actions and I completely understand the gravity of my request. I hope you can empathize with the circumstances that affected my ability to complete these courses. Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional documentation.
