Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello I'm not sure if my previous application went through as when I tried to submit it, I was logged out. I apologize if it was and this is a repeat. Unfortunately, none of my writing was saved so I apologize if this isn't very detailed.
I am hoping to swap COMM 323 for CLST 103. Due to the many unprecedented challenges that this academic year has presented, nearly every aspect of my past learning experiences which have fostered my academic success have been altered. In my experience, remote learning is vastly more time consuming and difficult to grapple with, as opposed to in person teaching, which has enabled me to thrive academically. On top of this, recently, I have been suffering from family issues and anxiety. This semester I am enrolled in COMM 323. I originally took the course as the topics covered interested me however, I have come to realize it is the hardest, most time consuming course I have taken at Queen's. As a result, I have had to push other courses aside. As midterms and assignments are approaching my anxiety has only gotten worse. It is getting harder to sleep and focus on my studies. If I remain in this course, I am sure both my mental health and grades will suffer.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: In order for me to succeed academically and graduate this semester I believe my best option is to swap COMM 323 for CLST 103. Taking a first year course instead of a third year course will provide me with more time to focus on other courses. With a first year course, I believe I will be able to improve my current sleeping and study habits and significantly reduce my anxiety. If I am permitted to swap courses, I am committed to spending the entire reading week in order to catch up in this course. I also plan on having regular meetings with a personal counselor in order to improve my anxiety.
